West Virginia Public Broadcasting
Election day is less than two months away, and West Virginia Public Broadcasting has been talking with the candidates about the issues important to your lives. Over the next few weeks, we’ll air in-depth interviews with those candidates.
Yesterday, we spoke with incumbent Senator Jay Rockefeller, a Democrat. Today we hear from challenger Jay Wolfe, a Republican from Harrison County. Wolfe shares his thoughts on energy and what he calls “West Virginia Values.”
That’s Republican Senate candidate Jay Wolfe, in an interview with producer Janet Kunicki. Look for interviews with other candidates on West Virginia Public Radio and West Virginia PBS in the coming weeks.

Jay Wolfe is now the only Republican running for the US Senate against Jay Rockefeller. Phil Cline from Huntington withdrew his name according to this Herald Dispatch story.
Republican Jay Wolfe of Harrison County filed for the seat after Cline submitted his candidacy form on Saturday.
“My intention all along was to be sure that Senator Rockefeller had opposition in the election,” Cline said. “Since I filed, I have had the chance to speak with Mr. Wolfe and he assured me that he is going to launch a spirited campaign for the Senate seat. My decision not to run allows Mr. Wolfe to focus all his financial and human resources on the general election in the fall.”
